Gun In Hand 04:46
Verse 1 I was born with gun in hand. What are you trying to imply Mom and Dad? I quickly figured out that it was loaded. Whoa, my head exploded. Chorus Cause all the pleasure that you ever get, is unequal to the measures that are never met. For every bit of good, for every little bit of good, you know that there’s a little bad. So ask me to keep a secret, and I’ll swear that I can keep it, but we both know that no one can. Verse 2 I grew up a hero in my own mind. And I accomplished every mission on my own time. The heroes in the comics always succeeded. I guess the picture of perfection’s all I needed. Chorus Cause all the pleasure that you ever get, is unequal to the measures that are never met. Because for every bit of good, for every little bit of good, you know that there’s a little bad. And for every full stomach, for every full stomach, you know that there’s an empty hand. Bridge Chorus Cause all the pleasure that you ever get, is unequal to the measures that are never met. Because for every bit of good, for every little bit of good, you know that there’s a little bad. And if your only peace and joy is present when there’s noise, then toys are all you really have.

Verse 1 Hello again, old friend. At least a year or so, it’s been. And it’s such a miracle, we haven’t missed a single beat. Yeah yeah yeah, we stayed right on rhythm. Hello again, old friend. At least a year or so, it’s had to of been. And though the scruff on your face says that you’ve seen some defeat. The look in your eye says you keep on winnin’. Chorus I found peace right beneath my feet, and I found life in a syncopated rhythm. I found faith in the things I cannot see, and I found ears that are willing to listen. Verse 2 Hello again, old friend. At least a year or so, it’s had to of been. And though our families always loved us, wanted us to have the best. Like a high-paying job, so we could keep our families fed. And yes, old friend, It’s something that I wont forget. But the riches that we seek, ‘aint ever come in the form of a check. Chorus x 2 I found peace right beneath my feet, and I found life in a syncopated rhythm. I found faith in the things I cannot see, and I found ears that are willing to listen. Solo Chrous I found peace right beneath my feet, and I found life in a syncopated rhythm. I found faith in the things I cannot see, and I found ears that are willing to listen. I found peace right beneath my feet, and I found life in a syncopated rhythm. I found faith in the things I cannot see, and I found ears —

Chorus I hope that there’s a reason for the way I am today, a thousand miles away, a thousand miles away. Happy as a dove and drunk as a sailor. I hope that there’s a reason for the way I am today, a thousand miles away, a thousand miles away. It takes a day of preparation to be on my best behavior. And maybe you’re the same as me. Verse 1 I find silence more intimidating than an elephant stampede. And I find silence more aggressive than a snake between my feet. Oh, maybe it’s just me. Chorus I hope that there’s a reason for the way I am today, a thousand miles away, a thousand miles away. Happy as a dove and drunk as a sailor. It takes a day of preparation to be on my best behavior. And maybe you’re the same as me. Verse 2 I could keep my body numb and make fun of every little thing I see. Or I could keep myself distracted from the questions that dig a little bit too deep. But that’s not for me. Cause I know that seeing’s not believing. You’ve gotta believe to see. You’ve gotta believe to see. Chorus I hope that there’s a reason for the way I am today, a thousand miles away, a thousand miles away. Happy as a dove and drunk as a sailor. It takes a day of preparation to be on my best behavior. Bridge Chorus I hope that there’s a reason for the way I am today, a thousand miles away, a thousand miles away. Happy as a dove and drunk as a sailor, drunk as a sailor, drunk as a sailor.

Track 5: This Place Is a Prison Verse 1 Alone on the sidewalk, smoke in the air. It should not be this way, but I guess, that fair is fair. I tried to listen, all I heard was words. What I hate is not the cards I’ve been dealt, but the feeling it’s what I deserve. If you asked me, what would I would change? I would’ve spent a lot more time with the people I need today. Chorus This place is a prison, but I’ve got my spoon. And if I keep diggin’, I know I’ll be out of here soon. This place is a prison, but I’ve got my key. Something’s gonna be missin’, whoa, it’s gonna be me. Verse 2 Watching the moon rise in this December sky. I can see the blessings in life, though at times I do my best not to try. The creator that made me, He whispers in my ear. Through the breeze and the trickling water I can hear as He appears. So though I am beaten, and bound to the bone, I’ll always keep my head held high, cause I know, this is not my home. Chorus This place is a prison, but I’ve got my spoon. And if I keep diggin’, I know I’ll be out of here soon. This place is a prison, but I’ve got my key. Something’s gonna be missin’, whoa, it’s gonna be me. Bridge Whoa, whoa, this place is a prison. Whoa, whoa, this place is a jail. Whoa, whoa, this place is a prison. And staying here’s to no avail.

Track 6: Nature’s Song Verse 1 Thomas was a lumberjack, a woodland man. Yes, Thomas came alive when he swung that axe. He swung that axe. But Thomas tripped and fell as the tree-trunk snapped, came falling back. So we never saw Thomas again. Verse 2 Paul, he loved his motorbike, his motorbike. Yes, Paul, he rode that motorbike, that motorbike. But Paul, he missed the wall ‘round the turnpike. So we never saw Paul again. Verse 3 Henry, he worked at the county jail, the county jail. Yes, Henry took care of all the inmates there, the inmates there. But Henry, he wouldn’t take the bribe they found inside his mail. So we never saw Henry, we never saw Paul, we never saw Thomas again. We never saw Henry, Thomas, or Paul. And that is how the story ends.

All Along 03:47
All along, all I ever wanted, was to walk with you and talk with you. And all along, all I ever wanted, was to smile for a while and see the favor returned. To walk alone is a habit I find hard to lose. But to journey with the one that you love, well, that’s something new. All along, all along, all I ever wanted, was to walk with you and talk with you, Dear. To walk alone is a habit I find hard to lose. But for you, it’s something I’ll do. Cause all along, all I ever wanted, all along. Yes, all along, all I ever wanted, was you.

Verse 1 No absolute statement can blanket the cold. No God-given feeling will align with what you’re told. Listen and follow, the cycle wears old. Listen and follow, or go home. Chorus There’s reasons for the writing on the wall, reasons for it all. There’s reasons for the writing on the wall, reasons for it all. Verse 2 We breathed of the same air, we ate of the same bread. We are of the same flesh. We are of the same flesh. But we’ve diluted the wine and now there’s nothing left. We’ve diluted the wine and now there’s nothing left. Chorus There’s reasons for the writing on the wall, reasons for it all. There’s reasons for the writing on the wall, reasons for it all. There’s reasons for the writing on the wall, reasons for it all, reasons for the inner voice that calls. There’s reasons for the writing on the wall, reasons for it all. There’s reasons for the writing on the wall, reasons for it all, reasons for the cold frost when it falls. There’s reasons for the writing on the wall, reasons for it all.

And so, here we are again: Talking past each other In analogies, To find out what We don’t know. We stare and stare and stare. Images half blurred and cracked. We step on in perfect Blackness, sightless as the blind. We pray, ‘Teach us to sit still, To care and not to care, ‘Cause those wand’ring steps Our parents took Won’t lead home. We stare and stare and stare, Hoping now just to be found. We’re found an seen and known, Wishing now to only hide again. But love is a conversion: So suddenly a turn To holy brilliance Knocks you down off your feet, knocks you down in blind belief. We see the longing’s wake, Led ing to what makes us whole. We’re found and seen and known, Nevermore to have to hide again. Nevermore to have to hide again. (repeated)
